Using Accrued Leave to Fund Your NFOP RHS Plan
In addition to payroll contributions, you may also contribute your accrued leave to your RHS plan on a pre-tax basis. Just follow these steps:
- Download the Accrued Leave Election Form. Use this form to designate the amount of accrued leave you wish to have contributed to your NFOP RHS account on a pre-tax basis when you separate from service. You may elect to contribute up to 100% of leave that would otherwise be payable to you at separation.
- Return the completed form to your Lodge. If you need help identifying the proper contact at your Lodge you may contact ICMA-RC at 1-866-747·NFOP (747-6367).
Important Notes:
- Your election must be made during the election window specified by your Lodge. If you do not make your election in the year of your initial eligibility, you may make an election in a later year during the specified open enrollment period. Your election must be made, however, no later than the election window in the calendar year before the year you retire or separate from service. If your initial year of eligibility to contribute to the NFOP RHS Plan is also the year of your separation or retirement, your election and contribution may be made in the same year.
- Please remember that once you designate the level of your contribution, you will not be able to receive the amount of contribution in cash. You will be required to make this contribution to your account as indicated on this form and will not be allowed to amend or rescind your election.
- If you wish to make an election to contribute through payroll deduction, please complete the NFOP VantageCare RHS Plan Pre-Tax Election Form.
